Podcast: The Days of Dual Entry from Phone Call to Scheduling Software Are Over

I recently joined Miriam Allred on the HomeCare Strategy Lab podcast to talk about how SmartAutomations.Care really began. The idea took shape while I was working in my family’s home care agency, answering the phones and seeing how much of the operation lived in those conversations. We were doing our best to stay efficient and build strong relationships with clients and caregivers, but so much important information slipped through the cracks simply because no one had time to capture it. I wanted a way for teams to stay fully present with the people they were helping without losing any of the details that make the business stronger.

SmartAutomations.Care grew out of that frustration. I wanted every call to be captured and documented without pulling someone out of the moment. Over time, the vision expanded into the home as well. When staff can walk into an assessment without a notebook, stay engaged with the family, and let the system build the care plan in the background, the entire experience changes. It also frees up hours that used to be spent typing notes late into the evening.

On the podcast, Miriam and I talked about how all of this came together and why automation, when used the right way, supports real human connection rather than replacing it. Agencies using the platform today are seeing clearer documentation, smoother follow through, and a real improvement in client conversations. If you want the full story, the episode is a great place to start.
